Academic Degrees, College of Marine Sciences and Maritime Studies

The College of Marine Sciences and Maritime Studies is the state’s premier marine and maritime destination, with internationally renowned faculty and programs tailored to your passion for the coast and sea. 

The following Bachelor of Science degrees are eligible for deck and engine license option training:

• Marine Biology (deck)
• Marine Sciences (deck)
• Marine Transportation (deck)
• Marine Engineering Technology (engine)

All graduate degrees are eligible to add deck license option training to their course of study. Students in all other undergraduate degree programs offered through the College of Marine Sciences and Maritime Studies may participate in the Corps of Cadets as Drill and Ceremonies cadets or as NROTC midshipmen.

Academic Degrees, College of Engineering

The Engineering at Galveston program provides first-year engineering students an opportunity to begin their studies on the Texas A&M Galveston campus before participating in the Entry to a Major (ETAM) process. Some majors are eligible for direct admission and require students to complete their studies in Galveston. Cadets in the NROTC and Drill & Ceremonies programs are eligible to participate in Engineering at Galveston programs. 

Four-year majors offered through direct admission at the Galveston Campus include:

• Computer Science
• Ocean Engineering
• Interdisciplinary Engineering- Marine Environment
