Receive your U.S. Coast Guard License
Texas A&M Maritime Academy cadets are either eligible or required to receive their US Coast guard License, depending on their degree program. Our deck program allows cadets studying Marine Biology, Marine Sciences, Marine Transportation, or any of our Graduate Programs to become licensed as a Third Mate (Unlimited Tonnage). Cadets in our engine program study Marine Engineering Technology and become licensed as a Third Assistant Engineer (Unlimited Horsepower). Deck and engine officers serve as the officers in charge of navigation and engineering watches onboard the ships that conduct ocean research and that move over 90% of our domestic and international trade.
